‘Art to feed the Soul’ – following on from ‘Art as one of your 5 a day’, this course would suit anyone new to art or who hasn’t done any art for a while. It is open to new and previous attendees to Cora’s art classes. Together we will explore a variety of mediums and subjects whilst discovering the benefits of just relaxing and enjoying the act of being creative. We will look at some of the rules of perspective and composition then ‘throw them out of the window’, as we discover new and fun ways to be creative!

Week One

Pencil and graphite – looking at tone and shape. Defining techniques to give form to our drawing.

Week Two

Charcoal- further developing tone and shape whilst exploring the possibilities and range of this traditional art medium.

Week Three

Playing with soft pastels – exploring this exciting medium and find out how to blend colours on the paper to create stunning and quick results.

Week Four

Oil pastels – how best to use them, blend them and what subjects they are best for.

Week Five

Watercolour, first of two-weeks of exploration. Establishing techniques and understanding the planning process to use this medium.

Week Six

Watercolours, further exploration using this medium in other forms, pencil, soluble wax crayon and Brusho.

Week Seven

Acrylics – exploring this relatively new medium to our art supplies and all it’s possibilities. Playing with techniques and deciding on a painting subject.

Week Eight

Creating a finished painting in Acrylics.

Cora’s approach to art is ‘fun first, art second’ as she has discovered over the years, if folk are having fun and feeling relaxed, the art and creativity naturally flows; attendees are invariably pleased and surprised by what they can achieve in her classes!
