If you’ve already completed the Dressmaking for Beginners class or consider yourself a confident beginner who wants to learn more about dressmaking then this is the class for you.
On this eight week course, you will further develop your sewing skills by making either a dress or blouse with the full support of Lisa, the tutor. The choice is yours.
You’ll learn how to:
*develop your knowledge of how to read a pattern and choose the right fabric for a project.
*sew invisible zips, neat hems, darts and pleats.
*Adapt a pattern so that it fits your measurements.
*insert sleeves into a bodice.
*use sewing techniques such as stay stitching and under stitching to give your garment a professional finish.
* how to use interfacing, create facings or linings.
*Sew a collar.
*use hand sewing techniques in dressmaking.
* add in-seam pockets if the pattern you choose requires them.
For the dressmaking course you’ll need to bring: a sewing machine, your sewing kit and a pattern you would like to sew. You can buy the fabric once we know the amount you’ll need for your chosen project to ensure you have the right materials.
