Dressmaking: Improvers
With Helen Goddard.
The emphasis of this course is on constructing two simple garments of the participants choice. Ideally one made from a woven fabric and one from a stretch fabric.
Starting with the woven fabric, the sessions will introduce students to patterns and fabric (it would be recommended that participants do not buy a new pattern or fabric until after the introductory session.)
During the sessions time would be taken for all of the class participants to make samples of the techniques required to make the garments that all the participants are making, so that you will learn from the construction of the garments of all the class members. This way you will have built up the knowledge of a good number of clothing construction methods, not just those on the garment you are making.
Emphasis will be made on how these new skills can be used to create new designs and expand knowledge and skills.
