Join lecturer and writer, Andrew McDonnell for this eight week course exploring creative writing.
If you ever fancied writing a book or you write short stories and want to know more or feel a bit poetic, then come and join this class.
Over eight weeks we will look at craft and technique in writing through a series of fun exercises.
Each class will involve reading texts, group discussions, writing exercises and participating in constructive feedback sessions.
Week 1: Introductions and getting started with writing
Week 2: Pleased to meet you! Writing Characters
Week 3: He said, she said. Writing dialogue
Week 4: No place like home: Setting a story
Week 5: It’s not you, it’s me: Viewpoints and perspectives
Week 6: Like and all that: Prose to poetry
Week 7: We may not understand music, but we like the noise it makes: Metre, rhythm and rhyme.

About the Tutor
Andrew McDonnell is a lecturer and writer, having published short stories and poetry across a range of journals and anthologies. His debut poetry collection, The Somnambulist Cookbook is being published by Salt in June 2019. Andrew is the course leader for the BA Hons in English Literature and English Literature with Creative Writing at University Centre Peterborough.
