If you wanted to write but were not sure where to start, or what the craft of writing entails such as point of view or character, then this friendly and informal course is the course for you. It works as both a standalone course, as well as a stepping stone to the BA Hons English Literature with Creative Writing at University Centre Peterborough.

Point of View
Character development
Setting
Writing dialogue
Using our senses
Writing from life

About the Tutor

Dr Andrew McDonnell is a published writer of poetry and fiction. His debut collection, The Somnambulist Cookbook was published by Salt in 2019 and his short stories and poems have been widely published in journals and online. He is the poetry editor at Gatehouse Press and the course leader for the BA Hons English Literature and Creative Writing degree at University Centre Peterborough. He has taught Creative Writing since 2003 and will publish a handbook ‘You Are The Writer – Writing Working Class Experience’ with Story Machine in 2025.
