This German for Beginners course gives you the chance to understand and communicate in simple, practical everyday-life situations, from introducing yourself and getting to know people to ordering food and drinks in a bar / restaurant. Each week you will learn how to use the right language in the right context, you will get to grips with the building blocks of the German language and start to speak with ease and confidence in basic situations.
You will get the chance in each session to listen to spoken German and to have lots of practice in speaking in pairs and small groups, while being monitored and helped by your tutor.
The main outcome of this course is to show that it is easy and fun to learn a new language and to enable you to speak German during your next holiday in one of the many beautiful German cities.

ELIZABETH LAKE – Following a school exchange to Wiesbaden in the sixth form, Elizabeth fell in love with Germany and decided that would be her main subject at university. She came to UEA and has lived in Norwich ever since! Little did she know at the beginning of her studies that the Berlin Wall was about to come down, and a whole new chapter of history was about to be written! Having her year abroad in the middle of all the Reunification goings-on was definitely an exciting and interesting time to be living in Germany! Having taught German in a secondary school initially, she switched to teaching adults and greatly enjoys teaching both classes and individuals. She is passionate about language and culture (not just German) and enjoys exchanging information enthusiastically with her students.
